Someone, somewhere, convinced marketing that clients sounded more
professional than customers, and like a virus, the term clients is now
showing up everywhere.

If I want the purchaser of the item to know or do something, I'll refer to
the customer (or client, if I must), while If I want the person sitting at
the computer, running the program, to do it I refer to the User.
