Has anyone out there had any recent technical writing experience using
Microsoft's SGML Author for Word or any other bolt-ons promising to save
Word documents to valid SGML/XML? I searched the Web on this issue early in
the year, with some results both pro and (mostly) con (mostly from several
years ago), but did not find answers to the specific questions I need to
answer for a business case I am developing.
How well does the system work for long/complex documents (e.g., containing
numbered paragraphs, graphics, tables, objects, etc? What version of Word
are you running? What changes (if any) have to be made to the MS Word
environment to make it work effectively? How does this affect author
productivity? How do this tool's capabilities compare to other tools you may
have used such as Corel WordPerfect's SGML capabilities, FrameMaker+SGML,
Interleaf, etc?
