David

I've been doing both long-document cross-references and lots of embedded
graphics all along; once I learned how to do them, it wasn't any problem.

With respect to embedded docs, that's something I've never tried. As far as I
know, it shouldn't be any different than embedded graphics, but I just don't
have the experience to really say for sure. Perhaps someone else might have
some experience with them.

As far as I know, Word doesn't have the ability to use conditional text. That's
not ever been an issue for me either; I can see where it could be a real help
in some situations but I've not ever had a need for it.

So, all things considered, I'd stick with Word myself if left to my own
devices. YMMV.

Mike,

At my shop we use Word for everything too, but will be looking at Frame for
the following reasons:

- difficulty doing long-document cross-references
- difficulty doing lots of embedded docs or graphics
- need to do conditional text

The last one is probably the top priority. We generally require 2-3
versions of a given manual or set of training curriculum, and it would be
much easier to simply maintain all of the versions in one master set with
conditional text.
