Yes, indeed. CorelDraw, Freehand, and Illustrator are the most popular
vector graphics programs. (CorelDraw is quite popular with PC folks and
Illustrator with Mac enthusiasts. Freehand is beloved on both platforms.)
If you're looking for something that will create some vector illustrations
without having to pay the high price of these products, you might consider
simply using the draw tools in PowerPoint, which you no doubt already have
on your computer.

Also, there are limited drawing tools built into Microsoft Word, although I
can't recommend them for any quality illustration work.
