I thought Matthew Danda's original post was a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek
commentary on the whole discussion of what technical writers are worth (or
should be earning), and all the other posts about trade-offs between money,
benefits and quality of life; what's most important to individuals; and so
on -- as well as making some good points about the whole issue.

Apparently some other readers took his statements considerably more
seriously. (Melonie Holliman was a conspicuous exception, who appeared to
get Matthew's point.)

These reactions are also relevant to the recent discussion on this list
about humour.
