That was easy as pie in Ventura. I frequently used that setup. I don't
get to use FM, but I think it would be about as easy in that. As for
Word, the only way I know to do it is to put both the heading and the
first paragraph in frames, and I don't know how to set up a paragraph
style in a frame that automatically aligns itself with the heading
frame.

I regularly use a heading that sits in a frame. The frame is part of
the style definition. (I do this so that can put a lowered rule under
the heading, a basic typographic function that Word is still too stupid
to do, as far as I can tell.) I don't know why you're having a problem
including such a style in your generated TOC. I do it regularly with no
problem. I'll step you through it if you'd like.
