I think the best article I've seen on choosing an HTML editor is·
HotWired's WebMonkey survey:"WYSIWYG Editor Shoot-out"

This article reviews WYSIWYG editors ("the cream of a not-so-outstanding
crop") and concludes, "No one editor is the universal winner in
what-you-see-is-what-you-get land. Different packages suit the needs of
different users."

It also goes on to describe the capabilities of all the WYSIWYG and
non-WYSIWYG editors. Among other things, it points out that many of the new
"curtting-edge" technologies like Javascript and DHTML are more often
available in the lower-priced non-WYSIWYG editors.

Cordially,
