A further comment on the number of pages that can be accommodated by a
3-ring binder:

Be aware that climate affects the thickness of paper. High humidity causes
many types of paper to absorb moisture and swell up considerably. So though
a binder might easily hold xxx pages in February, those same pages could
swell and cause the rings to unlock in July or August.

Eighteen summers in South Carolina have taught me a lot about humidity!
