As an independent consultant, you should be setting your own prices. The
company that has you under contract is not your employer, it is your client.
And as a consultant, *you* decide how much money you make, not your client. If
you want more money, you present it to your client as a price increase, not a
raise.

The fact that they decide your wages puts you dangerously close to being
classified as an employee by the IRS.
