Manugistics Faculty Intern for Education Services

Job Duties:

The intern will research and recommend appropriate innovative techniques

for developing and delivering Manugistics software training to account
executives, consultants, and business partners. The intern should:


* define each technique
* show how the technique is being used, both in academic and business

situations
* describe how it could be used at Manugistics
* list the implementation time and costs
* recommend and justify an appropriate approach.

The intern should expect to work at Manugistics in Rockville, Maryland.
Office facilities will be provided.

Qualifications:

The intern should have at least at Master's degree in Technical
Communication, Instructional Technology, or equivalent discipline;
doctorate or "all but dissertation" preferred. Other specifications:

* Must meet the qualifications for the STC faculty internship program

(teach full-time at a college or university)
* Experience in using distance learning techniques, in academic
settings, business settings, or both
* Knowledge of computer-based training and online help tools and
applications
* Knowledge of web tools; some experience developing HTML
applications
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Strong office automation skills; ability to use MS Office
applications with little or no help.

Length of Internship:

The internship lasts three months; currently, we are targeting June,
July,
and August of 1998 for the intern to work. This timing should coincide
with
the summer break; however, actual start and finish time can be
negotiated
to align with the intern's teaching schedule.

Reporting:

The intern will report to Mary Hammer, Director of Education Services.
She/he will work closely with Education Services management staff (Mary
Wise, Dawn Andre, and Jennifer Smith), as well as with selected members
of
the Instructional Design and Corporate Training teams.

Manugistics Compensation:

Manugistics compensates interns at a rate of $15.00 per hour, based on a

40-hour work week. Interns do not receive company health benefits, but
do
receive company-paid holidays. Interns also receive invitations to all
company-sponsored employee events, such as the company family picnic
held
in midsummer. The intern is also eligible for a $2,000 grant from STC,
pending STC Board approval.
