Technical standards societies do not want to show commercial favoritism.
Sometimes, writing in the first person does just that. I have written for the
SAE, and a preferred style is to write "It has been shown...." rather than
"XYZ, Inc. proved that ..." or "We ran tests that..." or even "Our test
results prove....".
