Well, I did it! A few months ago I delurked to let you know about my
deep-rooted and as yet unquenched desire to become a full-fledged technical
writer. I toiled away at those Dilbert-esque manuals, eagerly dotting the
proverbial "i"s and crossing the proverbial "t"s. As an administrative
assistant, it was an organizational challenge to find time to do my regular
job and the extra tw stuff that I really enjoyed. I paid close attention to
your suggestions, though, especially the words of encouragement from
Stephanie Gibson and Martha Lauer (I kept your emails on my desk in much
the way people keep rabbits' feet on their keychains.)

Anyway, I got the promotion just after the New Year, (Junior Technical
Writer) and I wanted to thank all of you for the incredible amount of
information that has bounced around this listserv since I subscribed. I
would not have taken those extra technical classes or made as much effort
to grasp the conceptual design and layout of our product (HR & Payroll
software) if I hadn't taken your advice. I would never have known those
handy tricks that saved me time _and_ made me look good. This list has been
invaluable to me.

Of course, now that I've been assigned 4 of those Dilbert-esque manuals to
convert to PDF (from Word97 :-|), I'm wondering about my sanity, but hey, I
wonder about my sanity anyway.

Thanks so much!!
