Hi Everybody,

This is my second query to the list! I am employed as a Senior Technical
Writer in Bangalore (India). It is customary among Indian companies to
set objectives over an year and measure an individual's performance against
them. Currently, we are in the process of defining our individual objectives
which will be later mapped against the organization's objectives.

Tech whirlers out there should have undergone a similar exercise during
their tenure as technical writers. I am interested to know the salient
measurement criterion that is employed to measure an individual's
performance (in the context of a technical writer), internationally. Though
it is standard practice to rate an individual's performance by the number of
pages they edited or the number of articles they wrote, it does not seem
to be an effective mechanism. Can anyone enlighten me about the existing
mechanisms?

Thanks in advance.

M S Dattatreya.
