Ahem: "my department" (ok, me -- I am a department unto myself :-> ) uses
the MS Manual as a kind of loose guideline or starting point. I.e. I look
at what the MS recommends and then decide if I think it makes sense or not;
often it does, but occasionally I change it -- for instance, "they" reject
using the word "gray" to describe an unavailable menu option and just use
"unavailable" but I tend to use both: "the choice will be unavailable (i.e.
gray)" or something. Basically, if I'm at a loss on how to write
something, MS gives me something to work from.
