HDF to Print

Can anyone recommend the best way to create a file from HDF (Hierarchical Data Format) that can be offset-printed at 150 line screen? (That is, we need to convert the HDF into a 300-dpi image file that can be readily imported into Quark X-Press and then sent to prepress.)
