Subject:Two docs in one? From:geoff-h -at- MTL -dot- FERIC -dot- CA Date:Fri, 19 Sep 1997 12:17:45 -0500
Carolyn Klinger wondered if anyone has heard of <<a
software package that allows you to pull two different
documents (an instructor guide and a student guide) into
one document, so that they can be "assembled" side by side
electronically? We would like the instructors who teach
from our course materials to be able to see their guide on
the left and the corresponding page from the student guide
on the right.>>
You mentioned that you're already using Pagemaker, so
that's your answer right there. PageMaker lets you place
new documents as independent stories, so all you need to do
is drop one document (the guide) into the left column as
Story #1, then drop the other (the student guide) into the
right column as Story #2. You can then flow the pages
manually, and independently of each other; "autoflow" won't
work because it will use both columns. Newer versions of
PageMaker (6.5.X), which support frames, should let you use
autoflow if you configure the frames properly, but I
haven't tried this trick yet.
