John Gibbons
Senior Lecturer
Department of Linguistics, University of Sydney

John Gibbons studies, teaches and researches Applied Linguistics. His
research interests are related to language and the law and to
bilingualism in its many forms. These interests include the
complications caused by mis-communication in the process of police
interrogation of suspects with limited knowledge of English.

FORENSIC LINGUISTICS
At the request of a large number of our members, John will expand on the
extremely interesting talk he presented last November at our Conference
?96.

He will be discussing additional work in this field of language use in
police work.

6.00pm for 6.30pm, Wednesday 22 October
