Moving Beyond Cool: Building a Usable Website With Jared Spool
--------------------------------------------------------------
Adding fancy graphics or nifty animation may win you a *Cool Site
of the Day* award, but probably won't help your users get their
work done.
As a Web designer in a business environment, you need to understand
what people are doing with your site and how you can best help them
achieve their goals.
Jared Spool will be in Tucson September 25 to present the latest
research about what works - and what doesn't - on the Web. Jared
will discuss users' questions and their success at finding answers
on your Web site. Using examples from existing sites, Jared will
show navigational structures that worked for users, and a few that
did not.
Jared M. Spool is a founding principal at User Interface Engineering
in North Andover, Massachusetts. User Interface Engineering is a
consulting firm specializing in the design and implementation of user
interfaces for computer products.
Jared was the principal investigator for the recently published
report Web Site Usability: A Designer's Guide. He has also worked
with many product development organizations. These include the
Harvard Business School, Lotus Development, Bank Of Montreal,
Powersoft, Progress Software, IBM, and Fidelity. Jared is on the
faculty of the Tufts University Gordon Institute.
