I'm going to take the Networking Essentials portion of the MCSE tests in
January. I'm teaching the Networking Essentials class at Wichita State
University this fall.

My biggest cause for concern about the MCSE is that you can pass large
portions of it without ever having seen a computer. However, employers in
this area seem to be very interested in people who are certified, so I
suspect it couldn't hurt your chances of getting a better job. My theory
(which is worth about as much as the electrons it's written on) is that more
technical knowledge never hurt a technical writer. Besides, I've done some
very lucrative contract work setting up small entry-level networks for
offices with less than 10 employees.
