Alexia -

can you ship two copies of the PDF: one intended for printing, with
page refs, and one intended for viewing online, with link refs? You
use Frame, so this would be a snap to do with conditional text.

If they print to a laser from the online version, the blue links will
come out grey and underlined, so it will still be apparent that they
are links.

This way, if the customer wants a bound copy they can print the manual
out book style. If they want to browse online they have appropriately
formatted links. If they want to print selected pages and topics while
browsing, the formatting is adequate, if not ideal.
