Sounds similar, but not the same, to a problem that I had (which
eventually went away--even on the files that were originally bad).
My system took all my graphics files and "posterized" them. TIF, BMP,
GIF, didn't matter. When I displayed them on screen (PowerPoint or even
as a wallpaper BMP, they had a *number painting* look. Never knew what
caused it.
I hope you will post the results of your question, and if anyone onlist
knows the reason for my experience, please post me.
