I read most replies and have gained a lot of valuable information.

Can anyone give more examples of different types of exercises that can
be performed while sitting at our 8-5 or 8-8 (in some cases)
workstations? I have already started the example that Dennis Hays
supplied. Thanks.

I have come across three types of exercises while discussing this topic
which can be performed sitting or standing:

1. With your palms downward and all fingers stretched out, extend both
arms forward as far as they will go, slowly moved your right hand to the
right and your left hand to the left until you get them to your sides.
Now hold them there for a few seconds, remembering to keep the fingers
stretched out, then release. You can either stretch to the side or hold
them straight up from the elbow.
REASON: This helps with circulation in both hands and strengthens the
muscles from the tips of the finger to the shoulder.

2. With your right palm upward stretch your right hand out in front of
you. Take the left hand and position the four fingers (excluding the
thumb) on top of the four fingers of the right hand and GENTLY pull
downward making sure the arm stays straight, then release. REASON:
Holding the fingers around the mouse or in that position for hours
create the potential for arthritis to set in because of limited movement
of all but 1or 2 fingers. This help stretch the muscles that otherwise
stay in one position most of the day.

3. While sitting or standing doing nothing (meaning not typing, using
the mouse, or writing), stretch the fingers out (of the hand your are
having problems with) as far as they will stretch, hold for about 2
seconds, and release.

Hope this helps someone.
