What is the shop-hour cost burden of having developers wandering the halls
trying to deliver forms, memos, tapes, floppies, punched cards to other
developers who are wandering completely different halls trying to do the
same thing?
Say developers have better things to do with their time? Okay, what is the
direct cost of teenagers pushing little carts full of floppies, etc.,
around the plant?
If such costs are not accounted for in normal record-keeping at the
company, it's called a hidden burden... I don't have the formula
close-at-hand, but I understand that in such paperbound/sneakernetted
outfits, the time spent getting actual work done can be as low as %20....
