Position: Technical Publications Specialist IV

Title: Help Technician/Technical Writer

Location: San Rafael, California

Description:


Data Management Technical Publications at Autodesk, Inc. is looking
for an online Help whiz who is also a good writer. We're in the
initial stage of work on version 2 of WorkCenter, our document
management software, and we'd like to migrate to HTML Help and
redesign our Help system. The WorkCenter team is very well
integrated--programmers, testers, writers, and marketing people work
closely together, so we need someone who wants to be invested in the
product as a whole.

Duties:

· Lead the Tech Pubs team in redesigning our WorkCenter Help system.
· Write the Help specification and participate in scheduling the work.
· Create Help prototypes and test them with customers.
· Write portions of the online and printed documentation.
· Coordinate the contributions of other writers to the Help. ·
Compile, test, and debug the Help.
· Become involved in activities designed to improve the WorkCenter
product, such as usability testing, customer contacts, and UI design.

Qualifications:

· More than 5 years of experience writing documentation for PC
software applications.
· More than 2 years of experience creating online Help systems. ·
Exceptional writing skills.
· Ability to learn new technology quickly.
· Working knowledge of HTML, RoboHelp, and Framemaker. · Design and
graphics skills.
· Willingness and ability to be an active member of a team that
requires reliability, excellent communication, and a cooperative
spirit.

Desired skills:

· Data management and CAD knowledge.
