Conditional text is text that is included in a document if a condition is True (or, False). Mailmerge features usually incorporate this facility.
It is very useful for document modularity, since you can prepare a master file with conditional text to be printed or not depending on the
condition.

Word 6 includes an IF field which accomplishes this, although not nearly
as easily as FrameMaker. I used Word 6 like this to produce a Guide for
UNIX and DOS from the same Word file.
