Chris,

Someone else will probably be able to give you the
more correct terms, etc., but there is a type of
binding that *looks* like perfect binding, but is
actually "loose", so your book stays open as if
it was spiral-bound. Talk to your printer -- they
can probably suggest some other alternatives.
