Howdy, Yall:

I became a technical writer by starting out in layout. The
large micro-chip company I worked for, in fact, has disbanded
their layout crew and now the writers do all the work. From
what I hear, the manuals are being produced faster; though
not as strictly to company standards.

Now, I am the only technical communicator in a small company.
I LOVE IT!! I like having the variety that I have: CBTs, on-
line help, and hard copy manuals. (I even get to dable in
the more graphical marketing.)

I think some people work better with a single task; some work
better with variety. I hope we continue to have both options
out there.
