This is it. I don't mind negotiating, but I prefer to negotiate from a
position of strength. I want to have close to the amount of information the
other side has when we both sit down at the table. I want to know many
things, not just rate information. I want to know if my experience is
relevant, if I really do have the appropriate skill for the job, how I stack
up against other people in my specific area of interest. My goal is not to
find out what people earn so that I can act as a salary busybody. My goal is
to earn the best I can with the skills I have. I do this for a living. Yes,
I do enjoy my work, but ultimately, I do it to earn a living. There are
other things I would do if I didn't care about or need the money.
