There's an issue related to credit card use for those of you heading to
Toronto.

To give the background, I'm in Toronto and this past year had several
American employers come up to recruit my students. Normally we go to
dinner after and, being a poor teacher, I let them pick up the cheque.
Well on about 2 of 10 occasions the American's credit card was not
accepted.

In both cases it appeared to be a Visa or MC obtained through an obscure
bank, the "normal" channels the restaurants use to clear Visa and/or MC
did not have access to the account. On the back of the card there was a
special 800 number for clearing international receipts.

So you may want to read the fine-print if you have a one of these
specialty cards.
