I am forwarding this message because we are users of HTML and HTML
will become even more important to us in the future. It is in our
best interests to have a single HTML standard. Microsoft and Netscape
are making this difficult by their HTML battle. The following is an
effort (by ZDNet) to influence MS and Netscape with a petition.

Mad As Hell
Jesse Berst, Editorial Director<BR><I>ZDNet AnchorDesk</I> Wednesday,

In their rush to out-innovate each other, Netscape and Microsoft
regularly propose extensions to HTML and other Web standards. Nothing
wrong with that... except they sometimes try to circumvent the
standards process. Right
now, for instance, the Internet is at risk of being splintered by
their battles over "push" and "dynamic HTML."

It's fine for them to fight... but not if it puts the rest of us at
risk. In an effort to get both companies
to do the right thing, AnchorDesk has created the Make-A-Difference
(MAD) petition. Already more than 22,000 people have electronically
added their names to this document.

For background on this controversy, read the original story. To sign
and (optionally) leave your comments, click the Make-A-Difference
(MAD) link and fill in your name.
To help even more, you can place a link to the petition on your own
site, by following the Add MAD instructions. And, if you'd like to
talk over this issue with other AnchorDesk readers, you can join the
Make-A-Difference Forum, where a discussion is under way.

Working alone, it's hard for individual users to impact giant
companies like Microsoft and Netscape. By putting our voices
together, we can make sure we get heard. So even if you're angry that
these two companies are putting customers at risk, don't get even.
Get MAD instead.
