Someone asked how "Bugs in Writing" handles the distinction between
fewer and less. Here it is. "Fewer denotes a reduction in the number of
a given collection of individual items; less denotes a reduction in the
amount of a given stuff."
One of the examples:
GOOD: Cosmo ate less ice cream than Reno did; Cosmo had fewer stomach
aches that week too.
Principle for Lucid Writing: Making fewer errors will allow you to feel
less foolish.
