One method I use is to imagine I am not the writer, but a person who has
never looked at it before. It's not easy, but it works for me. I got this
idea from an essay I read relating to writing academic essays: "Teaching
the Other Self: The Writer's First Reader" by Donald M. Murray (article
found in College Composition and Communication, Vol. 33, No. 2, May 1982).
