When we had Windows 3.1 we used Paintbrush to convert our screen captures
to monochrome bitmaps for printing in our manuals, since they take up much
less storage space than colored bitmaps. When we wanted to show a "grayed
out" icon or other area, we used a checkerboard pattern that came with
Paintbrush and it worked beautifully.
Now that we have Windows NT we have a problem. In the Paintbrush that came
with it we don't see a checkerboard pattern so we don't know how to show
"grayed out" areas. When we convert to monochrome, things are either black
or white, but we can't get gray. We even tried using the old Paintbrush but
that didn't work either.
Does anyone know of another graphics software package that would work for
us, or does anyone know how to accomplish the "graying" with the Paintbrush
that comes with Windows NT?
