Well, it depends. If you wish to follow the Microsoft Manual of Style, you
have these choices:

"On the xxx menu, click yyy."

or

"From the xxx menu, choose yyy."

The style guide goes on to say that "click" or "double-click" is preferred
over "choose" and "select."

At Ulead, our style guide for the online help is:

"Click xxx:yyy"

And for the manual, it is

"Click the xxx:yyy command"

Finally, if I may editorialize a bit, I'll conclude that all of the above
methods are acceptable as long as the standard is established and
maintained throughout the product's documentation.
