Cost for a CD?

June Kittlitz wondered what to charge for a CD of docs
shipped along with the printed documentation. June, a CD
costs about $2 (retail) to produce in quantity, and
probably less if you're doing thousands. Since you've
already paid the price to make the CDs for your in-house
staff, cost recovery and making a profit needn't enter into
the calculations. (Your managers may disagree and want to
turn the CD into a profit-making device. That's a valid
viewpoint, particularly if you're a small company... you
need to pad your profit margins to get you through the lean
times.) As a customer, I'd have serious qualms about paying
more than the reproduction and packaging cost. That being
said, can you think of this as a cheap way to buy customer
goodwill, or are you being driven by the bottom line?
