I'm not sure how many forestry editors or writers there are
on this list, but here's something that may be of interest
to others in the biological and environmental fields. (I've
summarized a letter from Michele Kaennel, Coordinator of
the Working Unit "Trends in forest terminology"):

[A] Directory of Experts in over 100 forest-related topics,
from "agroforestry" to "zoology", is now available on the
WWW. It was created within the framework of the Working
Unit on "Trends in forest terminology" of the International
Union of Forestry Research Organizations. Other
activities... include a neology watch and discussion groups
on various terminological issues.
The Directory of Experts is searchable by field of
expertise, language or country. Registered experts,
representing 14 languages and 20 countries, are all
volunteering to provide terminological assistance to their
peers or to terminologists/translators. Questions and
answers are exchanged on a one-to-one basis, by fax or
email, but are posted in our archives for the sake of other
users.
Feel free to join us, either as end-users or as active
experts in terminology! I... gratefully welcome your
feedback on our activities. The Directory was created just
a few months ago, and the discussion groups are just about
to start after the current test phase, so there is still
