On the Copyediting List (CE-L), we just had a long discussion about
this, but do I remember any of it? Naw, that'd be too easy. However,
if you see my Subject line, a solution that we came up with for one of
our newsletters, is to cap DO and DONT, so it's pretty obvious you're
not talking about DOS, the operating system. The column heading was
DOs and DONTs.
