Two of the very best technical communicators I know have degrees in
medieval history and Russian.
Let's remember that most academic programs in tech comm are of relatively
recent vintage. In addition, a lot of very capable professionals have come
into technical communication as a second or subsequent career. The mix of
backgrounds in any tech comm group is one of the things that makes our
organizations so dynamic--and so intellectually stimulating. The membership
of this LISTSERV is an excellent example.
