Seriously, though, I would probably be more accurate if I said that
I could tell if candidate has an eye for document layout by looking
at the layout of his/her resume (and avoid any question about the
tool used). However, if a candidate says they know Framemaker and
the resume looks good, I ask them if they used FM to format it. If
the resume is a mess, it doesn't pay to ask.

Another minor point: I've used both Word and Framemaker for so many
projects myself that I can spot nuances in layout technique that
give the origin away, especially if I am viewing a printed sample of
a long document (such as a submitted writing sample). Features like
repeating Headings in the header (accurately, the way Framemaker
does it), a separate table of contents (not embedded in the document
the way Word likes to do it), tell me the document was authored using
Framemaker. Similarly, Word has certain features that tell me how a
document was created. If you have both softwares, try it yourself
sometime with printed samples from each, using different features.
