This year's Region 5 conference is being hosted by the Lone Star
Chapter. The conference theme is "Technical Communication: From
the Wagon to the Web." The conference is scheduled for Friday,
November 15, and Saturday, November 16. A professional development
workshop is scheduled for Sunday, November 17.
The sessions are arranged in four tracks:
* Internet - Documentation on * Usability - Rapid-cycle usability
the Internet and Intranets, testing, cost-justifying usability,
Web page design and measuring Web site effectiveness,
graphics, and more designing in color
* Online - Windows 95 Help, * Academic/Career - Hot new jobs,
migrating to HTML, career development, writing for
developing Help standards publication, student internships

Speakers Some of the speakers were big hits at the last annual
conference in Seattle. Others are giving us a preview of
their talks planned for next year's annual conference in
Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Jeff Smith, President of OnRamp Technologies in Dallas,
will be the keynote speaker as he invites us to look over
the next horizon. Jeff has been on the leading edge of many
technologies including the Superconducting Supercollider.
