Not to be harsh, but you made a bad call, and have to live with it. The
ultimate responsibility in this situation is yours. Granted, you can
mitigate your loss by doing a mediocre job, but you'll tarnish your
reputation as well as that of other freelance technical writers, at least in
the eyes of this particular company.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, do you ask a painter to
make a bid without letting him look at the house? Or
a flat rate from a mechanic without letting him first
examine the car?
