Subject:Boiler plate text insertion for HTML From:Michael John Little <ur004135 -at- MAIL01 -dot- MEL -dot- AONE -dot- NET -dot- AU> Date:Fri, 5 Sep 1986 17:40:25 +0000
Thanks Chet,
for the information about dynamically linking the web page
template to a database with the text files. I am currently designing
my Web site, and I want to save space by treating the template as a
object into which I insert the relevant text or graphics, depending
upon where you you in the Web site. To some extent I image that is
what WinHelp does, which is a model for what I have in mind. It seems
to me, on a large online document system using HTML to very wasteful
of space by constant repeating the template. Specificaly how would
you implement such a system? Are there any online or hardcopy
references I can search that explain how to dynamically link a web
page template to a database that assembles the pages on demand from
the database contents. How much programming is involved? Is there any
online freeware that could store the page contents in a database and
insert it into the HTML template as and when required?
Cheers,
Mike Little
