Perhaps that is why people are more impressed when they see IEEE after
your name... it shows that you've been judged by your peers to have
reached a certain level in your profession, and not just have been
able to pay a few $$$s to get membership certificate (no matter how
pretty and colorful).

(And please, just to save future bandwidth, lets not have a long
winded discussion professional certification... its been discussed
before.)
