CALL FOR PAPERS

Narrative and Professional Communication

edited by Jane Perkins and Nancy Blyler

We invite both established scholars and scholars new to the field to submit
proposals for manuscripts on the topic of narrative and professional
communication. While rich scholarship is developing in fields related to
professional communication--such as anthropology, economics, history,
psychology, speech and organizational communication, and
sociology--narrative typically remains devalued in professional
communication. This collection of essays, representing original
scholarship on the topic, aims to legitimize narrative in professional
communication, suggesting a broad range of scholarly inquiry and shaping
future work.

Scholarship on narrative and professional communication might include but
should not be limited to work in the following areas:
- Histories of narrative in business, technical, and science writing
- Theories of narrative and their implications for professional
communication research
- Narratives of relevant professional communication contexts
- Analyses and implications of narrative writing in professional
communication documents and genres
- Rationale and suggestions for narrative pedagogies in professional
communication
