I desperately need you opinions on this one. I have a crack at ghostwriting
a book for a historian in CA who's father was one of the original Texas
Trailmen. The originator has registered the book idea with the guild. He
thought he had a woman in Dallas signed to write for him, but the contract
fell through.
I need your input for the following questions: Point me in the right
direction - Please!
1. Without knowing exactly how much research time I will be spending, how
can I estimate the cost of researching, writing and eventually proofing the
final book?
2. What about copyright?
3. What are the procedures for getting funding for such a book? It's a
continuation of the Lonesome Dove Series, but bringing the character's
history into present day.
4. What stipulations are recommended when writing the contract for this
adventure?
5. What would you recommend as far as payment? % of the profit or a
Percent paid on each milestone date?
6. How long would you estimate a fictional book to complete?
I'm sure that there are many more questions that will come up later, but
I'll start here now. I have to call back my contact tomorrow morning. So
I'll be up late tonight researching information for publishing!
Thanks So Much for all of your comments and sharing this information with
me. I learn so much from you all!
