Responding to percents of a writers time on various tasks:
We are a consulting firm and have found, as a gross generality, that
only 50% to 60% of a project is actually spent on "production"--aka as
writing. We spend 10-15% on requirements and design, about another 10%
on various maintenance activities--printer problems, LAN down, file
maintenance, etc. 10% project management if there are a number of
writers, and the rest in editing, more customer meetings, etc.
