Tim Altom, I believe, was welcomed to the world of Technical Writing long ago.
The point that Tim made is simply that the reader will never understand what
was written if he or she does not read it. A reader is less likely to read
material that is "boring, repetitious and sterile" -- a good point that Tim
made very effectively.
