Yes, it's a pain to change the numbers in every chapter. If you have
different odd and even, as well as a different first page, you must set the
chapter number *three* times per chapter.
Nancy & Wolf,
Word can automate the process of setting page numbers in the 4-# style. Just
set the chapter number using the heading numbering feature. Then use the
Insert Page Number Modify option to force Word to use the chapter number in
the page number footer.
If you change chapter numbers, you change only the chapter number, using the
heading numbering. The page numbers change automatically.
