I'm a firm believer in using screens in manuals. I don't do s/w manuals for
commercial stuff, but I'm currently working on a manual for some in-house
s/w that runs under Windows.

I have Windows 95 on my machine, but most users will still have W3.1 when
they get the first copies of the manual. So....

In the "conventions" section, I show *both* kinds of windows when I discuss
the controls for sizing & closing windows. If we were going to have users on
Macs, I'd include their window controls too. The whole "conventions" section
occupies two pages in a manual that's probably going to be about 100 pages.
