When you post to the list, the list server has to send your message to over
600 addresses. This takes some time, and a queue of messages can build up.

When the server has to verify your message, it only needs to send you email,
which isn't time consuming and probably goes ahead of the queued postings.

I don't know how it works in practice. ...RM
